I joined the project during the VFX exploration phase for the Vandal, building on the design work by the incredibly talented team at Afterblack, led by Pete Sutherland. My task was to refine some of the shapes and lines, and slightly adjust the concept. I drew inspiration from modern fighter jets and stealth technology - particularly the repetition of angular surfaces designed to reduce radar visibility. I added about 20% of my own contribution to the Vandal's design, which helped us move forward with clarity and direction.
The Outlaw and Bulldog were more straightforward, as the core idea had already been established. My role focused on translating the main visual language to fit their unique silhouettes.
The Ghost was the most enjoyable part for me - I explored it through five rounds, with six sketches in each. During the 1P development, Kevin Duc had a strong vision for the look and feel. We agreed that he would take over and finalize the 1P pass for the Ghost and the rest of the weapons to ensure consistency and polish across the set.
I’d also like to highlight the work of Yifeng Yu, who developed the melee weapon during his internship. Together with Kevin Duc, they crafted a unique and visually compelling design.
Huge thanks to everyone involved in this project. It's always a pleasure to work with such inspiring people. I'm proud of what we’ve built together.
